Panel: VR as an Agent of Change – Immersive Documentaries and Political Media
Chris Milk, Producer of United Nations’ VR documentary Clouds Over Sidra, believes VR is the ultimate empathy engine. “VR connects humans to other humans in a profound way. I’ve never before seen in any other form of media, and it can change people’s perception of each other,” Milk says in a TED Talk. “That is why I think virtual reality has the potential to actually change the world.”
Join a panel of artists, activists, and journalists who have used the technology’s potential of shining spotlights on social issues like the youth suicide epidemic in Shoal Lake 40, to what it’s like growing up in a Syrian refugee camp.
