CFC Media Lab invited the filmmaking community to learn about and discover the grammar and language of VR storytelling. Working with Occupied, CFC Media Lab produced the VR Sketches Series, an ongoing investigation into today’s VR storytelling form. The series presented its first three works in an intimate interactive setting where filmmakers — and anyone interested in learning about interactive storytelling — could experience them and discuss where VR can take filmmaking.
CFC Media Lab’s 3 Sketchescovered the past, present and future uses of VR. The first was an experience that showcased 3D positional audio as we contextualize the place of VR in media and communications. The second was an intimate moment with Canadian skateboarder, Devin. The experience displays the use of high-resolution 3D 360-degree filmmaking. An experience that provided a glimpse of the future of VR by watching a person transition from the real to the synthetic with the use of photo real 3D scanning.
